Pas Exploited To Commit Treason Against Sultan - Zahid By: Ramjit-->

PENANG, Feb 7 (Bernama) -- Pas should realise that DAP and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) have exploited the party to commit treason against Sultan Azlan Shah of Perak, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said. This, he said, was very clear when a group of supporters believed of the party caused trouble outside the palace in Bukit Chandan before the swearing-in of Datuk Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir as the new Menteri Besar. He said actions by the party supporters who obstructed vehicles ferrying royalties and several leaders including him were "ill mannered" and disrespectful of the monarchy institution in the state. "Them laying down in the middle of the road, His Highness's car was obstructed and they climbed onto the bonnet, my car was also thrown at with pebbles; if the leaders are ill mannered, the supporters also acted in ill manner," he told reporters here today. "Only one race was there and what was the use of having a coalition government when the Malays were only exploited by other races. "Not that I want to be racist but the reality is only race was there; where were representatives from other parties of the alliance? If they are really united, everybody was supposed to be there," said Zahid who is Perak Barisan Nasional (BN) deputy chairman. He said Pas leaders should open their eyes and accept the fact that their friends had exploited them and the three parties were actually never united. He said those who acted in ill manner and committed treason against the Sultan were not qualified to be Perak citizens and had to return any honorary awards conferred by the Sultan of Perak. In Perak, he said, it was clear that the appointment of a Menteri Besar was at the Sultan's pleasure and not by the State Legislative Assembly. He said former Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jalamuddin had to abide by the Sultan's decision and he did not see how a constitutional crisis could happen because the opposition had no issue there. Zahid said BN and the opposition alliance had 28 assemblymen each in the state assembly but BN had the support of three independent representatives, and if a vote of no confidence were to be carried out, the speaker who was from the opposition could not vote. "The opposition only has 27 votes while BN 31 votes. This is obvious and they have no reason not to respect the wise decision of the Sultan. His Highness is very learned in law because he served the Lord President before," he said. He said the opposition's plan to take legal action against the Sultan was futile because High Highness has immunity and the action taken by High Highness was in compliance with the Perak constitution.-- BERNAMA
